The origin
Now the company is working on concrete, lime, iron, wood and other building materials, for over a hundred years, through the ongoing commitment of craftsmen in love with their work.
It was back in 1891, when Giuseppe Seri, started its activities very young, had about 18 years, after years of playing alongside bricklayers, gaining experience and extraordinary ability in the use of building materials, such as gypsum and lime.
He started his business by carving wood and plaster molds to create, frames for windows, ashlar cantonal, gravestones, etc. Suddenly came the war to stop the activity that was beginning to bear fruit. The activity continued to slow until the end of the conflict. Not without problems, the activities resumed its course, and with the advent of cement, these creations, take a first timid attempt at industrialization, which will then be followed by his son Ezio, who continued the business after his father’s death.
From artisan production…
With the advent of Ezio Seri, (in 1933), the production takes on a semi-industrial connotation, even without mechanical means, but only with the help of the hands, the company expands and begins to produce larger objects like tanks for ‘watering of animals, poles for vineyards, concrete windows for stables, until the creation of heavier objects like the first poles for electrification, thanks to the purchase of the first truck, which allowed easier transport.
But in the time of development, came the Second World War to give a brake on production and the hopes of growth and development of the company, the families who worked there and the small town. After the conflict, albeit through the difficulties, the activities continued, generate new jobs both in the construction field and on the sale of construction materials. Suddenly, just as he was loading the truck, an accident happens, Ezio dies in 1958, under the eyes of his bewildered workers. It looked like the end.
…to prefabrication
The son Cosmo Seri who was a prominent lawyer in Macerata, launched into a career as an ambassador abroad, took a difficult decision, no one would have thought which was leaving the business for which he had studied for with many sacrifices, to continue to provide jobs and hope to people who had seen him grow and run around in his father’s workshop.
After the war, not without difficulties, the growth and the desire to rescue Italy is undoubtedly a must. The vision of Cosmo Seri is a company even bigger, studying new markets, visiting Germany and other countries in search of novelty. He started new experiences, new materials research, which it shares with professionals, engineers and architects, and finally put into production a new way of conceiving the building, speeding up processes and manufacturing, which until that time were still small craft industry. It makes new investments, building new halls and purchasing new machinery.
The cement becomes Fikissimo
Hence, the company that now bears his name and which over the years has specialized in small and medium prefabrication, building the first entirely prefabricated substation. After his death takes its reins the last of the sons, Andrea Seri, an architect with outgoing manual skills and strong creativity in different sectors.
The year was 2011 and after a year of intense work, comes the heavy building crisis that begun in 2007, it was felt heavily in the field of prefabrication, at the beginning of 2012. Hence the idea to diversify the prefabrication with the addition of new services such as garages, houses and prefabricated pools. But not enough. Andrea wants to get out of the logic of simple technical construction and bring art into the concrete, with the opening of a new production channel, more than small craft industry, which can push the creations of brand Fikissimo, also overseas and enhance our beloved made in Italy.
